He has long been engaged in the research of artificial intelligence and wireless network technology. He has presided over the research work of projects including the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Natural Science Foundation of Guangdong Province, the Industry-University-Research Cooperation Project of Guangdong Province and the Ministry of Education, the Science and Technology Planning Project of Guangdong Province, the Major Science and Technology Special Project of the Key R&D Program of Guangzhou, the Key Project of Basic Scientific Research Funds for Central Universities, and several horizontal projects in the information field.

He has proposed a series of innovative models and algorithms, such as the MoE model based on convolutional filter decomposition, the negative bidirectional distillation model based on self-supervision, the dynamic signature verification algorithm based on multi-modal feature fusion, the wireless network selection algorithm based on utility function, normal fuzzy number and collaboration theory, the optimized handover algorithm in IPv6-based mobile Internet, and the symmetric conjugate synchronization algorithm in multi-carrier communication. He also participated in the development of the on-board DVR system.

He has published more than 80 papers in important domestic and international academic journals or international conferences, including Ad Hoc Network, Journal of Electronic Imaging, Wireless Personal Communications, EURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, Computer Communications, Journal on Communications (Tongxin Xuebao), Journal of Electronics & Information Technology (Dianzi yu Xinxi Xuebao), etc. Among these papers, 36 have been indexed by SCI or EI. He has obtained 7 authorized invention patents and 32 computer software copyrights, and has supervised more than 40 graduate students.

In 2014, he won the First Prize of the 7th Guangdong Education and Teaching Achievement (Higher Education). In 2023, he won the Second Prize of the Guangdong Division of the 3rd National University Teachers' Teaching Innovation Competition, and in the same year, he was selected into the 2022-2023 Excellent Teachers Award Program for Computer Majors in Universities by the Teaching Steering Committee for Computer Majors in Institutions of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education.
