BiographyGang Jin, Ph.D.degree in Engineering, professor and doctoral supervisor, serves as the Vice President of South China University of Technology and the Vice President of Xinjiang University (supporting Xinjiang ). He is the Chief Scientist of the National Key R&D Program of China. His research focuses on real-time measurement and characterization technologies in polymer processing and high-value recycling of waste polymer materials. He has led one project and one sub-project of the National Key R&D Program of China, one project of the National Major Scientific Instrument and Equipment Development Project, one General Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. He has published more than 50 papers, including over 30 SCI-indexed papers, and holds 11 invention patents, 18 utility model patents, and 7 software copyrights. He has awarded the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the Second Prize of the National Technological Invention Award, the Second Prize of the Ministry of Education Science and Technology Invention Award, and both the First Prize and the Second Prize of the Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award. He led the development of a series of scientific instruments and equipment, including an internationally original polymer processing rheometer with independent intellectual property rights. This instrument can simulate actual polymer processing conditions and provide direct quantitative information on the physical and chemical properties of materials. It is currently the most functionally comprehensive instrument in China for simulating, measuring, and testing polymer processing, filling a domestic gap in this category of instruments and supporting several major national research projects. He has developed online measurement and characterization technologies for material morphology during blending extrusion and injection molding and designed and built measurement software and database systems for polymer blending manufacturing processes. These technologies have been initially applied and promoted in polymer product manufacturing enterprises such as Kingfa and Guangzhou Echom Co., Ltd.. In recent years, he has led a National Key R&D Program of China to develop self-reinforced multilayer film manufacturing and high-value recycling technologies for high-strength and easily recyclable mulch. This project is expected to address the problem of residual mulch pollution affecting 300 million acres of farmland in China. This work will support the sustainable development of modern agriculture and the ecological environment.
