Biography

Prof Xu was the Doctoral Supervisor and Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory of Advanced Papermaking and Paper-Based Materials. He’s a recipient of the Cai Lun Science and Technology Award, and has been recognized by major talent programs including the Guangdong Special Support Program, Shandong Taishan Industry Leading Talents Program, and National Major Talent Program. His research focuses on the clean, efficient conversion and high-value use of plant fibers, with impactful innovations in green papermaking and cellulose-based materials. He has led dozens of national/provincial-level projects and enterprise collaborations, achieving successful industrial application with significant environmental, social, and economic returns. As a key contributor, he has won two National Science and Technology Progress Awards (First-Class in 2019, Second-Class in 2010) and eight provincial/ministerial awards.
