About

Shen Yunfang is a professor and master's supervisor at the School of Art, South China University of Technology.Director of the Guangdong Cantonese Opera Art Inheritance Base of South China University of Technology, which is affiliated with the Ministry of Education,Director of the Guangdong Provincial Research and Popular Science Base for Intangible Cultural Heritage of Music and Dance at South China University of Technology,The Chinese Traditional Music Culture Inheritance and Creativity Team of Shanghai Conservatory of Music has flexibly recruited external experts,Deputy Director of the Theory and Criticism Committee of the Chinese National Orchestra Society.She has received the Nanguang Outstanding Teaching Award, Teaching Achievement Award, and My Favorite Mentor award from South China University of Technology, among others. She has guided undergraduate and postgraduate students' theses to win numerous awards, including the National Hua Le Cup - Chinese National Musical Instrument Works Review Essay Competition and the Shanghai Conservatory of Music Press Cup Book Review Group Competition.

She is dedicated to teaching and research in the fields of traditional Chinese music, 20th-century Chinese music, stringed quintet and ethnic chamber music, as well as traditional and contemporary music composition.She has published a series of academic papers in core music journals such as Music Art, Journal of the Central Conservatory of Music, Huangzhong, People's Music, and Journal of Xinghai Conservatory of Music.She has published monographs such as The Musical Creation Concept and Existence Value of Hu Deng's 'Silk String Quintet' and The Music of Gongs and Drums, and has served as the chief editor of the Guangdong Cantonese Opera Art Series A Collection of Commonly Used Traditional Gongs and Drums in Cantonese Opera and Yesterday's Grassland Was Illuminated Again - Qin Wencheng's Music (as the second author). Among them, the book Gong and Drum Music won the 8th Excellent Monograph Award for Philosophy and Social Sciences Research of South China University of Technology. She presided over the 2017 National Social Science Foundation of China Art Project Research on the Application and Analysis of Basic Terms in the Form Analysis of Traditional Chinese Music, and the research results were selected for the 2025 National Publishing Fund Project.
