Biography

Chen Taicong, male, born in 1977, holds a Ph.D. and serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at South China University of Technology. He concurrently holds positions as Council Member of the Ninth China Society for Vibration Engineering, Member of the International Academy of Mechanics, and Member of the International Society for Neural Networks. His research encompasses intelligent construction, engineering structure disaster risk assessment, structural health monitoring, random vibration and control, BIM technology development and application for engineering structures, computer vision, computational mechanics, and related engineering applications. He has published over 80 papers, with more than 60 indexed in SCI and EI. His research findings have been featured in journals including Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing, Journal of Building Engineering, Journal of Computing in Civil Engineering, Engineering Structures, Computer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering, Journal of Constructional Steel Research, Journal of Sound and Vibration, Journal of Engineering Mechanics, Structural Engineering and Mechanics, Acta Mechanica Sinica, China Civil Engineering Journal, Journal of Building Structures, China Journal of Highway and Transport, Engineering Mechanics, Chinese Journal of Computational Mechanics, Journal of Vibration Engineering, and Journal of Vibration and Shock. Findings have been presented at numerous international and domestic conferences, including the International Congress on Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, World Congress on Computational Mechanics, International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering Annual Conference, International Joint Conference on Artificial Neural Networks, International Symposium on Young Experts in Structural Engineering, China Conference on Computational Mechanics, China Bridge Annual Conference, and China-Japan-Korea Conference on Mechanical Structure Optimization. His research findings have been cited over 300 times. As a key contributor, he received the 2005 Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology First Prize, the 2010 Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Third Prize, the 2011 Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Second Prize, and the 2014 China Civil Engineering Zhan Tianyou Award. He is currently involved in two National Natural Science Foundation research projects.
