Biography
Dr. Hu Chichun is a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor in the School of Civil Engineering and Transportation at South China University of Technology (SCUT). He serves as the Director of the Greater Bay Area Transportation Infrastructure Joint Innovation Lab. His primary research focuses on developing sustainable and intelligent pavement solutions, including high-performance modified asphalt, novel preventive maintenance technologies (e.g., the NovaPave Ultra-Thin Overlay), asphalt recycling, and self-healing materials. His work aims to extend the service life of transportation infrastructure while reducing its environmental footprint. Dr. Hu’s research has been supported by numerous competitive grants. He has led over 60 projects funded by entities such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Sino-German Center for Research Promotion, and the Zhujiang Science and Technology Young Scholars Award. The practical applications of his innovations have been implemented in many maintenance projects across China, covering an area exceeding 5 million square meters, yielding significant economic and societal benefits.
