BiographyPeiqun Lin is a Professor and PhD Supervisor at South China University of Technology, Director of the Department of Transportation Engineering, member of the Teaching Guidance Subcommittee for Road Transportation and Engineering in Higher Education Institutions under the Ministry of Education, member of the Chinese Simulation Society, member of the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence, and member of the Expert Group on Transportation Informatization, Transportation Communication, and Information Security. His main research focuses on areas such as traffic big data, traffic system simulation, active traffic management on highways, intelligent connected transportation systems, and LLM-driven traffic image processing.As of September 2025, he has led more than 100 scientific and technological projects of various types, holds 1 U.S. patent and 34 Chinese invention patents, received 3 provincial/ministerial-level science and technology awards and 7 national industry association/science and technology awards, published over 100 academic papers, chief-edited 1 textbook/monograph (Traffic Big Data Processing and Analysis, People's Communications Publishing House, 2022), and participated in the compilation of 1 local standard (Guidelines for Accounting Mobile Source Carbon Emissions during Highway Operation Period, June 2025). His research achievements have been promoted and applied by the Ministry of Transport and in provinces/cities such as Guangdong and Jiangsu.He teaches undergraduate courses such as Traffic Big Data Technology and Traffic System Simulation, as well as graduate courses such as Theory and Methods of Traffic Information Processing. He serves as an editorial board member of Modern Transportation and Metallurgical Materials, and as a reviewer for multiple journals and conferences, including Transportation Research Part A/C/D/E, IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, China Journal of Highway and Transport, Journal of Traffic and Transportation Engineering, Acta Automatica Sinica, Control Theory & Applications, and TRB.
