Profile
Xiaochun Luo is a Professor and PhD Supervisor at the School of Civil and Transportation Engineering, South China University of Technology, and serves as Deputy Director of the Department of Engineering Management. He received his PhD in 2010 from the Department of Building and Real Estate, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
His long-term research focuses on the intelligentization of engineering management and construction methods, with particular emphasis on key technologies such as visual–spatial reasoning. He has led and co-led six research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Innovation and Technology Fund of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. He has published more than 60 SCI-indexed journal papers.
As the first inventor/author, he has received the Innovation Achievement Award from the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), UK (2015), the Best Paper Award (the only award that year) from the ASCE Journal of Computing in Civil Engineering (2018), and the Gold Medal at the 47th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva, Switzerland (2019).
