Biography
Professor Liu Yaopeng has long been engaged in research regarding the Direct Analysis Method for steel structures. He led the development of the NIDA software series, an integrated platform for nonlinear analysis and design, and was the primary contributor to the source code for its calculation and design kernels. This software has been widely adopted by the engineering industry for numerous steel structure projects across Hong Kong, Macau, mainland China, and Singapore. The engineering projects led or participated in by Professor Liu have repeatedly won the Structural Excellence Award and Commendation Merit in Hong Kong. Notably, the Spectacle Roof at MGM COTAI in Macau achieved the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the largest free-span grid shell glazed roof (self-supporting).
