Biography

Mu He-Qing's primary research areas include engineering inverse problems, structural health monitoring, Bayesian methods, and uncertainty quantification. His doctoral advisor is Prof. Ka-Veng Yuen, Distinguished Professor at the University of Macau. In 2010 and 2013, he conducted visiting research at the California Institute of Technology under the guidance of Professor James L. Beck, focusing on efficient Bayesian identification algorithms. In 2013, he conducted visiting research at the University of California, Berkeley, under the guidance of Professor Armen Der Kiureghian, where he engaged in research on uncertainty analysis of seismic hazard models. In 2014, he joined the School of Civil Engineering and Transportation at South China University of Technology as an assistant researcher and later as an associate professor, conducting research on structural health monitoring, uncertainty analysis, and related fields. His related research has been published in multiple journals, including ASCE Journal of Engineering MechanicsASCE Journal of Computing in Civil EngineeringASCE Journal of Aerospace EngineeringComputer-Aided Civil and Infrastructure Engineering, and Probabilistic Engineering Mechanics. He has led research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Guangdong Provincial Natural Science Foundation, and the Guangzhou Science and Technology Innovation Fund, among others. Currently, he serves as a corresponding member of the Technical Committee TC304 of the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering. He is also a member of the Youth Working Committee for Structural Vibration Control and Health Monitoring and the Youth Working Committee for Random Vibration under the Chinese Society of Vibration Engineering. Additionally, he serves as a reviewer for multiple journals in the field.
