About

Ma Hongwei, Ph.D., Associate Professor. Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology. He was a Visiting Scholar at Northeastern University (USA) and a Postdoctoral Fellow at Inha University (South Korea). Currently, he is a faculty member at the School of Civil Engineering and Transportation, South China University of Technology. He also serves as a member of the Expert Committee of Guangdong Steel Structure Association.
The teaching and research focus on steel structures and performance-based design of high-rise buildings. In recent years, he has led or participated in nearly 50 research projects, including those funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Provincial Natural Science Foundations, open projects of State Key Laboratories, and collaborative projects with enterprises and institutions. He has published nearly 50 academic papers and holds over 10 authorized patents, with a single SCI paper cited more than 80 times. He serves as Associate Editor for the Journal of Mechanical Science and Technology. He received the First Prize of Science and Technology Progress Award from the China Construction Metal Structure Association. Some of his research achievements have been incorporated into current industry standards. He is proficient in finite element analysis software and possesses extensive engineering practice experience.
