Biography
Jiangmiao Yu, Professor and Ph.D. Supervisor at South China University of Technology, serves as Deputy Dean of the School of Civil Engineering and Transportation. He is a Distinguished Professor under the Guangdong Provincial Major Talent Program, a recipient of the “Guangdong Special Support Program” for Young Top Talents in Scientific and Technological Innovation, and the Ding Ying Science and Technology Award of Guangdong Province. He concurrently serves as a Member of the Standards and Quality Supervision Committee of the China Engineering Federation, Chair of the Pavement Skid Resistance and Surface Functional Performance Committee of the World Transport Convention (WTC), and Member of the Transportation Universities Working Committee of the China Highway & Transportation Society. He is also President of the Shunde District Enterprise High-Quality Development Promotion Association (Foshan City), Executive Council Member of the Guangdong Highway & Transportation Society, Deputy Director of the Pavement Committee, and Deputy Director of the Maintenance Committee. In addition, he is an Editorial Board Member of three international academic journals, including Building Materials. He was a China Scholarship Council–funded Visiting Scholar at the Pavement Research Center, University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley). He is engaged in teaching, research, and technology transfer in the fields of green and high-performance road engineering materials as well as road construction and maintenance technologies. He has led and participated in more than 100 research projects. He has published over 110 peer-reviewed academic papers and has been granted nearly 70 national invention and utility model patents. He is the first author of one academic monograph and a contributing author of two others, and has participated in the compilation of seven national and regional technical standards. He has received 15 provincial- and ministerial-level science and technology awards, including the First Prize of the Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award and the First Prize of the China Highway & Transportation Society Science and Technology Award. He has also supervised students who have won 23 national and provincial innovation and entrepreneurship competition awards. He places strong emphasis on the integration of academia, research, industry and application, with a particular focus on the practicality and engineering implementation of research outcomes, and has accumulated extensive experience in green and durable road construction. The pavement structural fatigue life prediction method he proposed has been incorporated into the national mandatory standard Specifications for Design of Highway Asphalt Pavement, serving as a core technical basis for road design in China. As a key member, he participated in the establishment of the country’s first road construction quality management system, providing technical guidance for the construction of tens of thousands of kilometers of expressways. The green road materials and structural technologies he developed have been selected for major national transportation science and technology innovation promotion programs, and have been successfully applied in more than 500 landmark projects, including the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge artificial island access, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, and the Kinshasa–Matadi (Jinma) Highway in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, covering 26 provinces and municipalities across China as well as countries along the Belt and Road Initiative.

Research Areas
The research focuses on high-performance bitumen and asphalt mixtures, novel pavement structures and materials, modern road maintenance and management technologies, pavement non-destructive testing and evaluation technologies, as well as green and intelligent road construction technologies.
