Professor Xiaohu Yao is the Dean of the School of Civil Engineering and Transportation at South China University of Technology. He obtained his PhD in 2007 from South China University of Technology. Professor Yao has been recognized with several prestigious honors, including the State Council Special Allowance, the second Prize of Natural Science of Guangdong Province, the NSFC Distinguished Young Scholar, and the Pearl River Distinguished Professor. His research interests are in explosion and impact dynamics, micro/nano and composite materials mechanics, aerospace materials and structural dynamics, and dynamic mechanical behavior and failure mechanisms of advanced materials and structures.
