Biography

Su Ping is a Professor and Ph.D. supervisor at South China University of Technology (SCUT). She graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a Ph.D. in English Literature and served as a visiting scholar at the University of Liège, Belgium. She was selected as a Young Scholar of the National High-level Talent Program and serves as Director of the Institute for Island Cultures at the Center for Indian Ocean Island Countries Studies (a Ministry of Education National Center for Country and Area Studies). She is also one of the core members of the teaching team for a national first-class undergraduate course.

She has led multiple national-level research projects, published more than 50 articles in leading journals in China and abroad, and has authored, translated, or edited 7 books with well-known domestic and international publishers. Her significant academic services include Editor-in-Chief of Island Studies Journal (SSCI), Managing Editor of Folk, Knowledge, Place, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Caribbean Studies; Vice Chair of the Literary Geography and Spatial Studies Specialized Committee of the Chinese Association for Comparative Studies of Foreign Languages and Cultures; Executive Council Member of the Specialized Committee for Comparative Studies of Chinese and English Language and Culture under the same Association; Executive Council Member of the Specialized Committee on Ocean Strategy and Diplomacy of the China Ocean Development Research Association; Executive Council Member of the Cognitive Poetics Branch of the Chinese Comparative Literature Association (CCLA); Expert Member of the Committee on Interdisciplinary Studies of Foreign Literature in Chinese Universities; and President of Island Dynamics.
