BiographyZhu Xianlong is a Professor and doctoral supervisor at South China University of Technology (SCUT). He was selected as a Young Scholar under a national talent program, serves as the Principal Investigator of a Major Project of the National Social Science Fund of China (NSSFC), and is a Young Pearl River Scholar under the Guangdong Special Support Program. He is also an Elite Scholar of SCUT’s “Xinghua Talent Program”. He currently serves as Dean of the School of Foreign Languages at SCUT, Executive Director of the Ministry of Education’s Center for Country and Region Studies, Director of the Key Research Base for Humanities and Social Sciences in Guangdong’s Higher Education Institutions, and academic leader of the Country and Region Studies discipline. To date he has led more than ten provincial- and ministerial-level projects. He has published over 50 articles in journals and outlets such as Political Geography, Island Studies Journal, Country and Region Studies, and Guangming Daily, and has authored, translated, or edited more than ten monographs, translations, and textbooks with presses including The Commercial Press and Social Sciences Academic Press. His professional service includes Executive Vice-Chair of the Committee on International Communication of Chinese Culture, China Association for Comparative Studies of Language and Culture (CACSL); Vice-Chair and Secretary-General of the Social Translation Studies Committee, China Association for Comparative Studies of English and Chinese (CACSEC); and Vice-Chair of the Indian Ocean Studies Committee, Chinese Association for South Asian Studies.
