Biography
Supervisor of Master and Doctoral Candidates; Program Leader of Food Quality and Safety; Department Chair. Primary instructor for courses including Food Microbiology, Food Microbiology Laboratory, and Control Technology for Harmful Food Microorganisms. Recognized with 16 institutional Teaching Excellence Awards and received a First-Class Teaching Award at the Guangdong Provincial level (third contributor). Research program focuses on: Discovery and characterization of probiotic resources. Targeted screening and isolation of probiotic strains. Evaluation of metabolites and functional properties of probiotics. Elucidation and optimization of probiotic metabolic mechanisms and functions using transcriptomic and proteomic approaches. Interactions between probiotics, their environment, and host systems. Health benefits of probiotics for the host. Relationship between gut microbiota and human health. Industrial applications and scale-up of probiotics. High-density cultivation and stabilization/protection technologies for probiotics.
Has supervised six recipients of the University Outstanding Graduate Student Award. Has led or participated in more than 30 research projects funded by various entities, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Programs, Guangzhou Municipal People’s Livelihood Science and Technology Initiative, Guangdong Provincial Natural Science Foundation, Guangdong–Hong Kong Tender Projects, and industry-sponsored research. Author or corresponding author of more than 100 publications indexed in major databases (SCI/EI) and core journals; holder of over 20 granted patents.
