BiographyChen Xi, male, a native of Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, is a Lecturer at the School of Foreign Languages, South China University of Technology. Educational Background: He earned his bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of European Languages & Cultures, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS) (2003-2007). From 2007 to 2009, he pursued a master’s program in Advanced Chinese-Spanish Translation at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (Spain) and obtained certification for his foreign academic credentials, laying a solid foundation in language and translation theory. Work Experience: From September 2009 to July 2016, he served at the Department of Spanish, Nanguo Business College of GDUFS, teaching courses including Basic Spanish, Audio-Visual-Oral Spanish, Newspaper Reading, and Spanish-Chinese Translation, accumulating extensive front-line teaching experience. Since September 2016, he has been affiliated with the School of Foreign Languages at South China University of Technology, engaging in Spanish teaching and cross-cultural research. During this period, he participated in training programs for Spanish teachers organized by the Consulate General of Spain, the Teaching Observation Seminar at Beijing Foreign Studies University, and the FLTRP Multilingual Translation Teaching Seminar, continuously enhancing his teaching and research competencies. Research Interests: Focusing on cross-cultural studies, his core research areas include the translation and dissemination of Lingnan culinary culture, language transfer phenomena in translation teaching, and innovative applications of MOOCs. Major Research Projects: He has led the 13th Five-Year Plan Project for the Development of Philosophical and Social Sciences in Guangzhou titled Lingnan Culinary Culture Research—A Case Study of Chinese-Spanish Mutual Translation of Cantonese Dim Sum, the 2025 Lingnan Culture Project under the Guangdong Provincial Planning of Philosophical and Social Sciences Translation and Dissemination of Lingnan Culinary Culture in Spanish-Speaking Countries, and the university-level project Negative Transfer of Cantonese Vocabulary in Spanish, exploring in depth translation strategies for the international dissemination of regional culture. Academic Achievements: He has published several academic papers, including A Brief Comparison of Chinese and Spanish Onomatopoeia, An Analysis of Negative Transfer of Cantonese Vocabulary in Spanish Translation, Cross-Cultural Perspective on Translation Methods and Strategies for Cantonese Dim Sum Between Chinese and Spanish, and Application Value of MOOCs in Second Foreign Language Spanish Teaching, covering language comparison, translation practice, and teaching reform.
